As to the election, I suspect too many Americans aren't connecting this to the wider Republican party, in large part because of Donald Trump's image. He gives them cover for just about anything. Hopefully we're breaking through on reproductive health care, but it's a real problem. I'm not sure what to do about it, but I think Democrats need to attack 'Republicans' and not just Donald Trump.

I'm doing my part to attach it to Republicans, small as it is. I never type 45's name.

And that's what we need to collectively keep doing. This isn't about 45. IT IS ABOUT REPUBLICANS AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. Period. I don't give a shit what unhinged thing 45 said today. I don't read stories about his rants. I don't subscribe to Substacks that only talk about 45, all day, all the time. This is about how one entire political party has gone full-on Christo-fascist. They are the problem. He is a symptom.

Exactly. I think the money behind Democratic messaging needs to pick this up. They have to be led to it.

Political Dem strategists are increasingly following this work. We’ll see whether it translates.

When I saw the news of that lawsuit, I didn't think of Project 2025; but I did wonder if some fundie had attended in order to launch this lawsuit.

See my response to Marcy. Project 2025 devotes one paragraph to pornography. I have been so fixated on it because I know how broadly Christian Nationalists define pornography, AND I know how far they'll go to restrict anything they consider to be pornographic. This is playing out in existing red state legislative proposals like the OK one I dissected a couple of weeks ago. So I'm always on the lookout for more ways they will try to live up to their P2025 statement: "Pornography should be outlawed."

I agree with you that he's probably doing it on some group's behalf. Especially if Alliance Defending Freedom or a similar legal group is representing him.

Great catch @AndraWatkins! Push people, push.

Porn is going to be the issue that gets people interested in Project 2025 because it outwardly affects people’s daily lives.

If how much my various porn writings have been shared is any indication, you're right, Sharon. As long as we can convince enough people that their definition of porn is extensive and outrageous and freedom-limiting.

This is a prime opportunity to REJECT this, during Pride Month. Artistic expression should not be diminished or criminalized. Pushing where I can. Do Awesome Shite today. I will keep pushing this narrative, this is unacceptable.

I’m so incensed by attacks on the PRIDE community. Because they and everything to do with them will be called porn if Republicans gain full power.

Andra, what about we surge and go on celebrities/artists pages and ask about this lawsuit, let artists know. Barbara Streisand is probably livid and we need some vocal creatives saying HELL NO!

I already looked at how to contact Madonna. But one never knows how we “plebs” will be covered or not. It's still worth trying. Robert De Niro has certainly proven himself to be willing to fight.

When I read about this Madonna lawsuit last week in The Guardian, I immediately thought of project 2025......and, I highly suspected that this male plaintiff was a christo-fascist plant in the audience..... it's really the only logical explanation. I wish these people would fuck off.

He could be a prude, but if so, why go to a Madonna concert (and apparently take his 11-year-old sister?) I wish a journalist would dig into this guy. Not so people will send online grief and threats his way, but so we can be more informed about the kinds of people who bring lawsuits like this.

I couldn't find the guy's name yesterday that filed the lawsuit - I didn't know he took his 11-year-old sister, he should absolutely have known better. That's another reason why I think he's a christo-fascist plant.

I have his name. The Guardian article listed it. I tried to search the LA County Superior Court's website for the text of the lawsuit, but I don't have an account. I wanted to see who was representing him.

Thanks for this information. It will be interesting to see how it plays out 🤨

This is exactly the kind of thing I see them doing to creators around the country. It mimics so much of their success in TX and elsewhere. This is how they accomplished Dobbs. It's how they brought the mifepristone suit. It's how they're now trying to inject the Comstock Act into a sham lawsuit brought by 2 UT professors over refusing to give students time off to recover from abortions. It's really important to pay attention to how they're attacking our freedoms on every front. They're using their success with abortion as a playbook for other liberties.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I hope the wealthy artists start looking and become aware. They have many privileges and resources. Sometimes wealth and fame can skew one’s view. I feel they need to take action they can afford it and need to be part of the solution.
