Why are Christian Nationalists so focused on extracting fossil fuels? Are they not worried about the future of our planet? (Scroll to the end to listen)
Up until now, I’ve made much of Project 2025’s Christian Nationalist design. But culture wars aren’t just fueled by extreme religious beliefs; Project 2025 is an unholy alliance between Christian Nationalism and the New American Oligarchy.
Make no mistake. At its heart, Project 2025 is a roadmap for parallel forms of oppression: Christo-fascist control to impose theocracy and economic feudalism so the extremely wealthy can continue to profit, without paying taxes or facing regulatory oversight.
Nowhere is this more evident than in Project 2025’s sections on drilling and extraction.
Given the dire adverse national impact of Biden’s war on fossil fuels, no other initiative is as important for the DOI under a conservative President than the restoration of the department’s historic role managing the nation’s vast store-house of hydrocarbons, much of which is yet to be discovered. The U.S. depends on reliable and cheap energy resources to ensure the economic well-being of its citizens, the vitality of its economy, and its geopolitical standing in an uncertain and dangerous world. Not only are valuable natural resources owned generally by the American people involved, so too are those owned separately by American Indian tribes and individual American Indians, both of which have been injured by Biden’s illegal actions.

To support the objective of drill drill drill extract extract extract, they spend hundreds of pages attacking science: Medical science, biomedical research, gender science, and more.
But their overarching objective in undermining all science is to destroy climate science. Here’s why.
Climate science is future-thinking, as it causes humans to make proactive choices, be it with managing their own health, choosing how and where to work, making cities resilient against rising seas, or making different choices on the uses of natural resources and how we generate energy.
The world’s billionaires make money by forcing us into reactive choices. Expanding the right to drill and extract is reinforced by policies to undermine the investment in renewable resources. Since climate science has already demonstrated the accelerating challenges caused by continued reliance on fossil fuels, P2025 aims to kill that messenger.
One of (Biden’s) first actions was to ban federal coal, oil, and natural gas leasing on federal lands and waters to fulfill his campaign promise of “no federal oil,” followed by actions from Interior Secretary Deb Haaland to rescind the Trump Administration’s Energy Dominance Agenda. To this end, DOI unilaterally overhauled resource management plans, lease sales, fees, rents, royalty rates, bonding requirements, and permitting processes to prevent new production of coal, oil, and natural gas on federal lands and waters; to dramatically increase production of solar and wind energy; and to accomplish its “30 by 30,” “America the Beautiful” agenda to remove federal lands from “multiple”—that is, productive—use.

Christo-fascist politicians are useful to billionaires because they also hate science and their Endtimes beliefs make them disinterested in the long future of our planet. History is packed with examples of how religion was used to suppress scientific advances and subjugate humanity.
By granting wealthy private interests unfettered access to resource management plans, lease sales, fees, rents, royalty rates, bonding requirements, and permitting processes, Project 2025 will give billionaires and corporate conglomerates absolute, unbridled control over America’s fossil fuel and mineral resources.
Project 2025’s Christo-fascist government will align with billionaires to distract, subjugate, and control the rest of us while they pillage the planet for their own profit. Understanding what Christo-fascists mean when they say things is important, because if they win in November, their Christian Nationalist language will be the language of the federal government.
Just as 45 is a convenient tool for Christo-fascists to gain control of the federal government, Christo-fascists are a convenient tool for billionaires. And when billionaires destroy the planet irretrievably, they and their entitled offspring will go live in their apocalypse bunkers or decamp to Mars while we and our offspring perish here on Earth.
This is definitely one angle, and it certainly makes "Big Oil" bought in to the Project. But there is more going on, as I'm sure you realize: STEM can be seen as an existential threat to Christo-Fascism because it naturally refutes all the lies buttressing CF. Here's just one example of such pushback against STEM from the Babylon Bee (which passes in MAGAville as "satire.") This is really propaganda. The Metric system is the standard, like it or not, in STEM fields. So this is just stoking resentment among the rubes against "egghead scientists," who they consider ungodly. Quoting the end of the article:
"OK, we rest our case. If you think the metric system is useful for anyone other than math nerds and dorky scientists pouring chemicals into beakers, then you're probably a Communist. What's your favorite American unit of measurements? Let us know in the comments."
We know that one of many initiatives is to dismantle higher learning in this country (and ideally, the World). Stuff like this seems to be softening up the True Believers toward that goal, so not many will complain when MIT gets dismantled in the name of Christ.
Which is truly rich, since Big Oil NEEDS graduates from places like MIT to be the geologists finding the oil and engineers to help improve the machinery. Maybe Big Oil hasn't thought their alliance all the way through?

The contrast you draw between proactive and reactive choices is enlightening.
Change is hard because it threatens the status quo. Those who are best off and have the most with things the way they are have the most to lose. And humans tend to fight harder to keep what they have, than to gain what they don't have.
Ergo the rich always resist change the most, and they have the most resources to deploy to get their way.
What's interesting though is they don't have any real allies among the public. The one thing both sides have in common is their voters are unhappy and angry. So the rich are trying to pull a sleight of hand.
It's really high risk though. Whatever happens, how does this not blow up in all of our faces? That there's enough desperation to play with fire in this way is telling. I'm not sure the choice the rich are making isn't VERY reactive.
I don't think the toothpaste goes back in the tube. The rich may be trying to buy time with Trump and Project 2025, but the voters are still going to be angry, and they'll turn on whoever's in charge.
I think it's all out of control at this point. I suspect that makes it more unpredictable.
