It infuriates me the way our government at all levels violates the separation of church and state every day. From elected officials, including the president, attending and speaking at the prayer breakfast, not as private citizens but in their official capacities, to sentencing people to these religion based programs, to showering medicare and medicaid dollars on catholic "hospitals", to abstinence only indoctrination replacing medically accurate sex education programs in the public schools. I keep thinking of more... there are just too many to list. And that's without Project 2025!

Christian Nationalists believe the founders invoked separation of church and state to protect the church from the state. See House Speaker Mike Johnson saying this to a news outlet.

Over 100 federal congressional representatives hold Christian nationalist beliefs. That percentage is probably higher in red state houses. They have been pursuing a Christo-fascist takeover of all government for decades, but Project 2025 is their all-out assault on the federal government specifically.

Yep, Democrats, Liberals, Progressives, Independents; we’ve all been asleep at the wheel for too many decades & didn’t notice this Christian Nationalist creep into our govt, schools, & judiciary

I would 'LIKE' this post a hundred times if I could!!! I have known about some these transgressions (if I may use a biblical expression) for a number of years, but not all the permutations. Thanks Andra, and tell me more!

You may use biblical expressions around here. I haven't thought about the word "transgression" in a while. :)

I laughed out loud at the first sentence of this post. Kudos.

I imagine too many people don't care about these programs because (they think) you only end up in one of them if you get in some kind of 'trouble'. And for this purpose being abused or being poor counts as trouble. So yes we need to demonstrate how widespread this is and how it is intended to ultimately ensnare everyone.

I excel at this kind of writing. I wrote this story in less than 10 minutes. 😂😂 Journalistic writing is harder, but I’m doing it.

As we dive deeper into this Project 2025 vein, every reader will see how they could wind up in a program like this. Not necessarily for doing something wrong or for being poor or marginalized. They will even force people to do them for things they want.

In JVs Substack she’s sounded the alarm about all the brand new “unwed mother’s” homes being built as we speak. That shows you how prepared they were, knowing that Roe was going to fall.

I’ll see if I can find it. I was going to her Sub next to catch up. If I find it, shall I just re-stack it, & then you can read it?

The rescue mission (homeless shelter) in my city works like this. In order to get a meal and a place to stay, men have to go to chapel, etc. What happened to Jesus’ command to feed the hungry and help the poor? There were no stipulations on it! We have stories of men getting kicked out because the JOB they got (the goal of becoming self sufficient!) had second or third shift hours that caused them to miss chapel and curfew. So infuriating.

I’d love to hear more about this, Tammy. I’m going to email you privately with some questions if that’s ok.

Ummmm. Never heard of a John school. Yeah, for years jails have had pastors go in, Alcoholics Anonymous also religious based.. .. you are right, I never really gave that much thought, about the proselytizing. And exactly to your point, they could get their extreme claws much deeper into many many other areas. They are already in public schools.

I don’t have a problem with pastors/priests/rabbis/imams visiting inmates in prison. I believe a good number of those folks provide comfort and support. I don’t think anyone should be forced to see them, but inmates who want spiritual counsel should have it.

However…

Religious organizations should pay taxes. They should not receive public taxpayer funding and call the assertion that they pay taxes and give an accounting of how they spend public funds “religious persecution.”

Totally agree, it is long overdue for all churches to pay taxes. June 2022 was a particularly bad month, not just with Roe but the corrupt SCOTUS decision to allow tax dollars to flow to religious schools. I hate the 5-6 SCOTUS!

Those ultra conservative 6 on the court are HORRIBLE & yes, I also hate them. I keep hoping I’ll wake up one day soon & see the news banner say

“Justice Clarence Thomas dead of heart attack at age 71” or however old he is right now.

Democrats must get way better at paying attention to all judge positions all of the time.
