"...radicalized Christian Nationalists believe it goes against their faith to 'live and let live.'" This could be the sub-header of your substack...and it is the mantra that those who are not paying attention need to be hearing over and over again. I think modern Americans have become so accustomed to the freedom to live as you see fit as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, that they can't really imagine a whole cadre of their fellow citizens have no intention to live and let live.

From recent experience, I'm not sure arguing for the right to "live and let live" will be persuasive. So many Americans willfully ignore every piece of available evidence in favor of parroting what they hear in their silos. I don't think these Americans will grasp what losing the right to "live and let live" will mean until they've lost it. (It's been a while since I've encountered someone who deliberately and intentionally chooses to remain ignorant, but it was necessary exposure for me right now.)

I believe plenty of Americans can still be persuaded by the value of the freedom to live and let live. I will ponder your advice.

Not sure how to explain Christian Nationalism to someone? Use this free teleprompter app with ten suggestions from Andra. You don't have to instal any software and it's there when you need it, or share the teleprompter with a friend. You can use it on your phone and adjust the font size and scroll speed to your preference.

Thanks for making this interactive slideshow, Deepak. You always make this work so much better for people who need (or prefer) visuals to words.

Thanks for this piece Andra. I really don’t think as many have said here, people will realize till their way of living has been stripped away.

The trend is disturbing. The percentage of C nationals is small BUT big if they are in places of power. Judicial, legislative and executive.

History shows that a third of voters who hold minority views can force their will on everyone. This largely happens because another chunk of the population cannot be bothered to vote (or they literally cannot because of voter suppression.)

From recent experience, it’s also difficult to convince disengaged voters of how radical CNs are. Even when I described specific instances of indoctrination and religious abuse and equated it with what’s happening in Texas today, I was told things like, “It’s great that you have so much passion, but I’m not really interested in politics.” Or “what’s wrong with having rules instead of living in a world where everything goes?” People like this will probably have to suffer to care. Or watch people they truly care about suffer. Mentioning that I could suffer for this work received another ho-hum.

I will still fight for these people, because I don’t want to experience the consequences and I understand the stakes.

I've said it several times in various places, but I'm so grateful to be meeting so many Americans who care about freedom and democracy through this work. You inspire me.
